Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The American Clock and Watch Museum (AC&WM) will hire a director of interpretation and will consolidate several programming and interpretation goals from its long-range plan. The director will enhance the museum's interpretation of clocks and watches and the important Connecticut and American industry that produced them by improving the overall presentation to general and specialized audiences in the museum and in the community. The director will build the museum's capacity to meet the needs of its audiences, working with community members, staff, and volunteers to develop public programs, improve the interpretation in exhibits, integrate new tours for both adults and schoolchildren, and include education as a focus in the museum's planned facility expansion. The new programs will fall into two broad categories: (1) general-interest events for local audiences of all ages, such as walking tours, clock identifications, Clock Camp, weekend workshops, and gallery talks, and (2) meetings and seminars for the AC&WM membership and for members of National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors chapters. The museum will also create a teacher's advisory committee to develop curriculum-based tours.
