San Bernardino County Museum
Log Number: MA-02-04-0491-04
Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The San Bernardino County Museum will design and implement a multifunctional Web module and media archive to serve the Inland Empire (San Bernardino and Riverside counties). The museum will collect and organize cultural and natural heritage information and make it available for public and academic use. The museum will create a permanent and stable record of its collections that will be available to a worldwide audience through its Web site. Each academic and research division in the museum will digitally scan, photograph, or otherwise record much of its collections and data. High-speed, photo, document, slide, negative, and large-format scanners will be used to produce high-quality reproductions of archival documents. Digital cameras will be used to photograph artifacts. The museum will purchase a server to support the software and transfer the existing Argus database to the Web module. Information and images will be available to researchers and the general public, who will be able to view and download images and activities for home use. The Web site will appeal to all age and educational levels and to users with a wide range of technical ability and expertise. It will be accessible from most computers.
