Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The Old South Meeting House will develop and implement the Free Speech Forum project, an initiative to share its unique resources as an active forum for public discourse and free expression with audiences both onsite at its historic landmark structure and online through its Web site. The project will strengthen and expand opportunities for lifelong learning, providing visitors to Old South and its Web site with historical resources having to do with issues of free speech and debate, and the opportunity to participate in programs on multiple levels. Old South will create and present programs in its historic space that use a broad range of approaches to involve participants with public discourse and free expression; upgrade its performance and presentation capabilities to better serve onsite and online audiences; and redesign its Web site to highlight its rich history of free speech, including direct access to programs via webcast and new interactive components to reach audiences who are not able to attend onsite programs. Old South will market and cross-promote the redesigned Web site to reach new audiences on the Internet.
