Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning In its Healer Within You program, the Still National Osteopathic Museum will develop spiraling health and science curriculum modules and supplementary classroom activities for K through 12 students. By addressing and expanding the museum's public education strategies, this project supports lifelong learning for children and incorporates the effective use of technology. The project is designed to address a trend of low student achievement scores on the Missouri Achievement Program exams in 43 rural/underserved Missouri school districts, all in financial need, that have a strong interest in receiving assistance in enhancing health and science instruction. Learning modules will be provided at no cost to targeted schools. The educational objectives are to (1) create and disseminate a minimum of 40 grade-appropriate health and science lesson plans and instructional resources for primary use at the K through 8 levels, with potential for adaptation for grades 9 through 12; (2) evaluate the educational methods and outcomes of the curricular initiative and modify it as needed; and (3) disseminate the learning model to other schools, science centers, and museums nationwide.
