Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The National Museum of Wildlife Art (NMWA) is located 30 miles from Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. The museum will use this grant to support the final design, fabrication, and installation of new exhibits in its interactive children's Discovery Gallery. The exhibits will replace worn displays that have been used for the past 11 years by an estimated 120,000 children with new displays in an expanded space. The renovation will help the museum achieve its goal of better serving children and families with an environment designed for play and discovery through hands-on exploration and advanced technology computer interfacing. The funds will enable NMWA to broaden and enhance its educational services, creating an interactive environment that focuses on the connections between art and nature and emphasizes the reliance of human beings on the natural world. The Discovery Gallery enables and encourages young visitors, as well as their families and teachers, to understand and appreciate the aesthetic experience offered by NMWA.
