Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The Rochester Art Center (RAC) will establish Project Connect, a multicomponent program for youth, families, and adults, designed to enhance community engagement, visitor experience, public access, and diversity. Project Connect comprises three distinct programs: (1) Free Family Days, an exhibition-based arts activity and tour program; (2) Arts Interact, an expanded tour and docent program; and (3) From the Source, an ongoing series of arts presentations and lectures. Together, these programs offer audiences multiple means of interaction and participation, and strengthen connections to exhibitions, artists, and arts professionals through hands-on activities, small-group discussions, and lecture-based presentations. Free Family Days will occur on the second Saturday of each month. There will be no admission charge to the art center, and professionally facilitated hands-on art activities related to the current exhibition will be offered for children and families. Arts Interact is a specialized, family-oriented docent tour program designed to encourage intergenerational discussion and facilitate participative group interaction. The tours will be led by volunteer docents and will be available by request for regional organizations and institutions.
