The Library of Virginia will use funds under the American Rescue Plan Act to help communities respond directly and immediately to the pandemic, as well as to related economic and community needs through equitable approaches in digital inclusion and library services. They will continue to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2018-2022. Specific state goals include: 1) foster the development of the evolving neighborhood/community library as a center for lifelong learning and civic engagement; 2) facilitate access to information and the discovery of knowledge and cultural heritage for the purpose of cultivating an informed and engaged community; and 3) support the training and development of proactive library leadership and skilled staff to meet the rapidly changing environment.
