Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana

The Cemonia Strother Library, serving a tribal community of 1450 and surrounding communities, will use grant funds to increase tribal capacity to provide meaningful library resources that address educational and employment barriers to improve the lives of tribal citizens. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many tribal members faced financial hardships due to lost jobs and resulted in lost resources, that included the Internet. By adding a staff person, accessing professional training to respond to community needs, and improving library resources, the Cemonia Strother Library aims to return and improve on its value to the community.
