The Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWCC) project will support three campus library Learning Resource Centers in cultivating safe spaces for people and their ideas. The libraries will provide a center for community engagement and dialogue through active community sessions focused on topics including dealing with post-pandemic stress, racial injustice, diversity/inclusion, and resilience. Through targeted areas of mindfulness ranging from activities, facilitated conversations, and public forums, the libraries will be the anchor for generating the mindfulness theme. The outcomes of the project will be to help students and community members develop coping mechanisms and stress management by promoting joy and gratitude as well as strategies for dealing with post-COVID-19 stress, being mindful of racial injustice, and furthering diversity and inclusion.
