Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas, will improve its digital platform and online services and hire two education associates to continue a prevention and early intervention art outreach program that promotes entrepreneurial skills and self-esteem through screen-printing instruction. This program is a powerful crime prevention tool that offers a safe and constructive environment for children ages 10–17 who are most vulnerable to community violence and gang recruitment. The program helps at-risk youth with problem-solving under the guidance of professional artist-educators and administrators who serve as both teachers and mentors. The museum, which is dedicated to exhibiting, collecting, preserving, and interpreting Mexican, Latinx, and Latin American art and culture, also will address community needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic by developing an online education curriculum and adding digital content to the museum's updated Learn web page.
