San Diego Model Railroad Museum

The San Diego Railroad Museum will digitize at least 50 percent of the museum’s collection and research library catalog to allow the public to access information and learning opportunities. After being closed for 11 months during the pandemic, the museum aims to open doors to gain knowledge, share portions of the collection not regularly on view to the public, and get information into the hands and homes of the museum community, including hobby and industry experts, historians, researchers, schools and students of all grade levels, arts and culture supporters, and the public in and beyond San Diego. The museum will survey specific focus groups to better understand what museum stakeholders want to see. Having a comprehensive digital database for the museum’s collection and research library will reinforce and advance the museum’s mission by engaging audiences with a robust online experience.
