The Duke University Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina, will hire a collections manager to accession specimens, track and process loans, and coordinate volunteer efforts. Staff will participate in training on the use of a biology database management software that will allow the center to share the contents of its collection online. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for a Collections Manager as researchers requested loans and specimen details because they were unable to visit the collections. The collections manager will participate in conferences focused on paleontological collections management, including the Annual Meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections, and will create a guide documenting workflow that work-study students, volunteers, and future staff can use.
