Director, IMLS
IMLS was part of an exciting announcement earlier this week, when the winners of the second Digging into Data Challenge were announced. There were 14 winning teams in this competition to promote innovative humanities and social science research using large-scale data analysis.
We were one of eight partners in this collaboration, joining fellow U.S. agencies as well as those representing Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. IMLS is contributing $474,855 to support American researchers from three of the fourteen teams: the University of Washington, the University of California at Berkeley, and Drexel University. Co-funders are supporting the international partners involved in these projects.
As it says on the initiative’s Web site, “the idea behind the Digging into Data Challenge is to address how ‘big data’ changes the research landscape for the humanities and social sciences…Digging into Data challenges the research community to help create the new research infrastructure for 21st century scholarship.” IMLS is proud to be part of this important work.
Congratulations to all 14 winning teams!
